CULTIVATING BLACK TRANS JOY

A culminating performance of our Creative Fellowship, a good time was truly had by all—as you can hear it in the video!! After conducting oral history interviews with Black Trans Pillars in our community, our cohort members entered into a collaborative creative intensive to devise original performance pieces. We listened together, wrote together, sang together and danced together in the process to create a series of vignettes that touched on the themes of Trans sisterhood, chosen family, self love and actualization and most importantly joy.

This performance was shared with our community in June 2023 at the André Cailloux Center for Performing Arts and Cultural Justice on the historic Bayou Road in New Orleans, LA and is the seed to the newest full length production in process by Last Call
